Is a desk, chair and whiteboard what you need? Or maybe you work better in the virtual space of links and blogs? Here are some things to consider:
A similarity between the two types of learning is the amount of work put into creating, learning and teaching. Teachers spend just as much time prepping and planning for their online courses as they do in class. The only difference is the delivery of the material. Students also spend the same amount of time working on the course. Instead of this being done in a chair in a classroom, it’s done from the comfort of their homes or another environment.
A difference is the active participation of students. While working in a traditional classroom setting, some students may feel uncomfortable or nervous speaking in front of the classroom or asking for assistance. An online portal allows gives those students more confidence to speak up, as there aren’t a bunch of eyes on them.

Sometimes my board does forget this, and you hear of people having 40 or 50 students in an e-learning course, "because it isn't like you need to physically manage them." In this respect, class size is equally important in an e-learning setting as in a traditional one.

]]> 2016-08-09 16:35:19 UTC https://padlet.com/donnamillerfry/r8mv7x6kwltq/wish/117810237 A similar tool to Padlet... https://padlet.com/donnamillerfry/r8mv7x6kwltq/wish/117820031 I have students use Lino quite often.  It is similar to Padlet, but I find it gives students a bit more freedom to make their assignment.  I consider it like an online bulletin board, and I tell students it is just like making a bristol board assignment without the physical cutting and pasting.
I notice there have been many changes here on Padlet from when I was first introduced to it (when it was still called "Wallwisher"!), so I'll have to experiment more with this one too!

3. other students. 

On the other hand, There are no face to face interactions held between the learning and the instructor/other students.

Difference - While the traditional classroom has the days' lesson/ notes/ handout a linear pace is expected. Online learning allows for a student to work at their own speed and perhaps look ahead or look back at materials if they so choose.

Online learning breaks many of the constraints of a traditional classroom!

Difference- Students are able to access materials and create assignments from anywhere and at anytime. The structure of learning is more free and thus, more safe and conducive to their specific needs.
