Working with Tech Director to get new lab setup in the Media Center with desktops.  Laptops will stay deployed in the classrooms.

Events coming up: 
-Donuts with Dudes
-Jan 25, 6:00 in PAC, Literacy night to talk about Journeys program and other ELA stuff.  Will have Home-School connections strategies.  Will have tables for each age level to get info for your student.
-Early Release tomorrow.  Teachers will be focusing on Math during their PD time.
-NWEA testing in March, 1st-5th grade
-MStep in April
-Some students made t-shirt bags to carry lunches and they are working really well... it is much easier for the students to carry.
-In March, will do Multicultural Day
-February 27th general info night for new kindergarters
-March 8 and 20th for Spanish Immersion Info Night

  1. 6 Garden Beds to be placed in the front yard of Bishop. Received an estimate on materials. Awaiting blueprints - a parent has graciously offered to design it. Estimate time of completion Spring/Summer 2018 - Investment around $3,000
    1. Working on a nice blueprints to make sure they will be nice for the future as well as now.
    2. Will partner with Model for an Earth Day Event in the spring.
      1. Maybe have Joe Riley come present... he does earth friendly songs and performances... should be able to get a grant to cover this... wouldn't it be cool to do an outdoor concert with him????
      2. Arbor Day is April 19th.
    3. Will be planting fruit trees too.
    4. From Kerri-- There may be some grants we can get to help out with funding
    5. This also falls within the district's goals to improve the entrances for all the school buildings.
  2. Hiking Trails (Eagle Scout Project) - Still in progress; Mr. Jansen will give an update
    1. Because of weather, this hasn't progressed
  3. Benches in the front entrance (Eagle Scout Project) - Received blueprints for design. Will be approved next month, then fundraising will occur for completion. 
    1. It will be a square in the front entrance.
    2. The eagle scout has done really nice work.

  • Scripts - Raised $666
  • Original Art-- Maybe will do artwork fundraiser where you can have your child's art put on things (notecards, magnets, hot plate, etc.)
  • Maybe a potted flowers fundraiser with Zawicki Greenhouse
  • Shoe fundraiser.... you recycle your gently used shoes to be redistributed in other countries or taken apart to make crafts.. They pay us for the shoes.
  • Kroger-- not sure how much we've raised , but recently got a check... maybe it was 500 or 600 dollars.

  • Donuts with Dudes: Jan. 26 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
    1. We have had a great return with the sign-up!  63 adults signed up so far!
    2. There will be treats, a craft and students will be able to show their classroom to their dude
    3. Got some Starbucks and Tim Horton's donations
    4. Will have Abe's muffins that are nut free created by a father with a son with allergies. Tree nut-free, peanut-free and sesame-free muffins made on a dairy-free and egg-free line.  Will post the ingredients list on Facebook.
    5. Slips are due back by Monday. 
  • Early Release - No School Jan. 15 
  • Spanish 101 - Learn Basics Everyday Phrases on Feb. 13 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. 
    1. This will be a new focus of the spanish immersion parent (SI Padres) meetings.
    2. This will be good becasue all the Bishop kids are taking at least some spanish
    3. Will create common phrases for parents to have.
  • Spanish Exchange Program: Leave for Spain on Mar. 2 (See below for more details.)
    1. In the March, 6 Bishop students (5th graders) and 2 chaperones (1 is a teacher) will be traveling to Madrid, Spain for one week. They will be visiting and staying with families that attend Liceo Europeo - Bilingual School in NE Madrid. In June, those students will come visit Bishop for two weeks.  Next year, both sets of students will visit for 3 weeks each.  Fundraisers will take place throughout the year to help cover the cost for the students and chaperones. 
    2. Collecting Cans & Bottle to continue to raise funds
    3. Will be selling t-shirts, contact Kristin Rahn.

    Not a big turnout in person.
    Mr. McNatt would like to see more parent involvement
    In Feb or March will start working on a new Strategic Plan for the district. They really want community involvement. Get in touch with Mr. McNatt's office if you are interested.  
    Also want help with hiring committees.  A parent must be on all new hire committees.
    This summer district will host "Reading in the Park" in the park area on campus
    Will do a movie night in the football stadium during warmer weather.
    Just finished a survey of district families to help drive  the strategic plan.
    He was approved to hire a Facilities Director who has saved the district lots of money.
    Hope to start working on some improvement projects in Bishop around Spring Break... maybe with the roof and carpet and a crack in the wall in the media center.
