Kendrick Lamar makes reference to kunta kinte when doing the song and this is because "kunta" was a real case shown in the novel "roots" that was a black skined person who suffer from slavery and racism back in the time and got is leg cut off. Kendrick does this representation because it he made a connection with kunta because since he was a little boy he used to be a slave. In the song "king kunta" Kendrick makes a direct reference to him when saying "King Kunta, everybody wanna cut the legs off him, Kunta, black man taking no losses " refering to the indifferences and injustices he used to go through.
