Corky Gonzales was not only well known for his grassroots movement, but he also amassed a large following throughout his professional boxing career. By the end of Corky's fighting career, he had a record of 65-1-9, seeming to not perform in his biggest fights. Gonzales went on to later retire in 1955, which promptly led to his socio-political career.

Growing up in the Eastside 'Barrios' of Denver Colorado, growing up during and post Great Depression was no easy feat. Corky Gonzales recalls growing up about how his father was often working hard long hours in the mines, while the rest of his family including him worked in the fields of Denver.

Corky was not only successful in the boxing arena, but went on to write enriched and informative poetry covering the Chicano experience. Corky wrote not only to inform those what the experience was growing up as a Mexican American man but to shed light on the innovation created by Mexican Americans, and to receive their acknowledgment.

Corky became a figure in the Chicano movement of hope and continued to fight for Mexican Americans to have a place to call home.

This was a funny meme that I created covering the stages of Rodolfo Gonzales' life, and how he continued to help and aid the Chicano movement. As Corky's life furthered he not only pushed for Chicano civil rights through protesting, but even created an organization to help those who came from this community.

As stated to perceive both as synonymous is incorrect, yet the history and trajectory of the organization cannot be mentioned with its founder and initiator.

As Rodolfo got older, his legacies continued to show and shine within the Chicano communities, and was memorialized in Denver as one of the largest Chicano activists. Unfortunately, later in life,e he was a part of a car accident to which he wasn't able to recover. Instead of spending the final time in the hospital, he chose to live his final moments at home, as he said he wanted to be with his people and his family. Rodolfo was fondly remembered through his school, 'Escuela Tlatelolco' which closed down in 2016. However, the year before the Denver public library opened a wing just for him, etching him into history forever as not only an athlete but a pillar of hope and change in the Chicano communities across the United States.
