Community members should and should not be able to control what books are in the library. I believe its a so-so answer because, they sometimes are basing out of anger for the author doings. Yet, sometimes for good reasons like explicit content, that they unsure of their children or other children to read.

Community members should not be able to control what books are in the library. A community has a lot of people and that means that there will most likely be a lot of opinions. Also I've always thought that a library is a way to escape from the real world and if there are no books of your interest then you wouldn't get to have that awesome feeling. When I looked up why the giver was challenged I just couldn't see how that could be challenged, so if the community members took it away they could be taking away a really good book.

Community members should not be able to control what books are in the library. I think this because first of all the community members usually get letters or stuff from parents, saying that certain books are displaying this behavior in this book, or are giving bad influences to my children. If you think about certain books that are banned are usually in middles schools, high schools, so if a book displays some type of bad behavior the students in the upper grade schools will probably not get influenced to do these things, most likely because there more mature.

This is due to some parents are very overprotective while others have a responsible conclusion in my personal opinion. This would lead to fair conclusion between parents and students.

Community members should not be able to control what books are in the library. Children should be able to read what they enjoy and believe. One book was Unwind many parents didn't feel the need to have books talking about sucide, inappropriate, etc... Also another book was the giver authority at the school disagreed with the usage of medicine and how it was preformed. If the kids reading the book think what they are reading is appropriate they should continue on reading. Students should get a say of what they want to read and what they believe they should read.

Community members should not be able to control what books you are able to read in the library because books that may have violence and such, could be what makes the book interesting to some people. Harry Potter was claimed to be too violent , but if the book was just all about happy and cheerful things the book would not be interesting . ( in my opinion ) I most books there is a conflict and the conflict can be many different things. For some people, a more serious conflict is more interesting to others. So I believe that community members should not challenge books that may not be the right level conflict for them.
