Poverty in North Korea manifests in several critical ways. Many citizens suffer from chronic food shortages due to limited agricultural production and strict government control over resources. Malnutrition is widespread, particularly among children, and access to clean water and healthcare is extremely limited. In rural areas, people often rely on makeshift markets to obtain basic necessities, but prices are high and goods are scarce. Energy shortages lead to frequent blackouts, leaving entire communities without reliable electricity.

The latest data indicates that 20.27% of Nepalis, based on a daily spending threshold of $1.90 for essentials, lived in poverty in 2023, according to the National Statistics Office. While the country has seen a decline in poverty rates since 2011, the pace of reduction has been slower than anticipated, with factors like the 2015 earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic impacting progress.

It makes it harder for them to access special healthcare needs like going to hospital and other check-ups if they are in need. Some parts in Brazil are in severe poverty especially in the Northeast and North regions. Many people in Brazil find it hard to find stable living conditions and many people find themselves living on the streets. They also find it hard to access clean water sources and many of people experience malnourishment, and then they experience illness.

Sudan is a developing third-world country which has an immense level of poverty. It’s GDP is estimated to be around $1,330 in 2021. It is possible that Sudan’s GDP could have decreased due to the ongoing civil war for power between two groups. This brought out fear in citizens which led them to flee their homes and live in refugee camps; looking for a better life. Since the civil war started in 2023, it has decreased access to basic needs and resources, made its economy more unbalanced, and increased poverty. It has led to people living in fear and to not have adequate living standards. The genocide and famine happening in Sudan (like Palestine) has affected over 14 million people and has left them feeling unsure of their future. It is the hardest to break the poverty cycle in the current situation in Sudan, but it is better to do it now than never.
