The Chinese had foreigners at their doors trying to convert them to Christian faith. This shows how they don't deserve a bad rep because they had people telling them about how Christianity was a the supero religion in their own home. This influenced the boxer rebellion because the Chinese were having their own country flooded with drugs, crime and conflict. The Chineses have no choice but to rebel against the foreigners and defend their land. Also the drug problem caused poverty rate to go up. In 1899 the rebellion to place but the terror for the Chinese started in 1839 with the opium war. In 1844 a treaty was signed in China witch aloud foreigners not condomed to Chinese laws and rules. Then after signing another treaty in 1844 the foreign citizens gained extraterritorial rights.
