Feedback from Michael

Medals: This project explores a complex problem in how to visualise information that has scale and is abstract. You use an interesting process to do this which explores ideas around labour and human ability to record time passing. I think the most successful outcome is the drawing on glass as this medium enhances the viewers focus on the mark making.

Missions: Explore other visual language to record time or members of a community. What about using 3D objects or sculptures? The larger the sculpture the larger the amount? The heavier the materials the larger the amount? Try at least 3 different materials.

Medals: You researched a lot about college and used these information to try new collage techniques. I reckon the most successful technique was the digital college because it is seems very real, almost like a dream, and this could be a way to understand the end of the world.

Missions: You said on your video that collage using magazines wouldn't work out because you can't control the size of the objects, but maybe you could do a more abstract approach, or even use the magazine to draw what you want and then cut it and make a composition.

Medals: You've put yourself into people's perspectives which is very important, specially when you're, for example, doing a project that you want to connect to people. For this, you really need to study how people react to different things.

Mission: Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like you felt much more connected to the "hippie's perspective". What if you had chosen only the hippie's perspectives and drawn different scenarios from your everyday life (bus stop, ebac, a friend's house, a restaurant), each one in a hippie's perspective?
Also, next time I would've shown more research so maybe we could link your references to some other that might help you in the future.

Medals: You totally went out of your comfort zone without leaving your style behind. This is difficult to achieve because when people want to do something really different, they do things it looks like it's not even by them. You experimented working with black and white that you're not "used" to and took the opportunity to go beyond and use photography as the main technique.

Mission: I would've shown who inspired you for this project so we could really see what you were aiming for.

Medals: I saw you working really hard for this project. Cutting letter by letter takes time so I can see you'd put a lot of effort. It's nice you took time to consider each picture to really give them a new meaning and recreate a story for them. I liked how you connected the pictures with a red string because it really emphasizes the connection they have with each other. Good choice!

Missions: Try to show a bit more about your process and also get closer to your outcome. I was really interested in seeing it closely but I just couldn't...

As a redo projects, i believe that you could experiment a other way of representation, as you have worked with animals security. I consider that, your worry and interesting with empowerment works.

Mission: I agree with Dani of you seems to be more engaged with the hippie's perspective. In my way of view, of this can be a empowerment project, you should have done equal production for both. But i understand that maybe this could happen because of time. I believe that if you had done just two perspectives but be more detailed, could be a better outcome.

From Fabiane to Daniela

Medals: I like how you described the problems you had for the project. I like how you had many ideas for the project and how you showed this in your sketchbook. I like your initial collages and how you used the old pics mixed with drawings and writing, I don't understand why you didn't like them. Very nice research and I like the way you registered it in the sketchbook.

Missions: Plan time better next time. Maybe research more in the beggining so you don't struggle so much while thinking about what to do. The video is quite long, but well-explained. I prefer the first outcome because I think the one in the acetate is a bit too messy and can't really see the pictures that well (just personal opinion).

And secondly because the theme behind it is really current: Streets and its diversity a s well as people's diversity. But somehow, we're all connected and it's pretty clear in your project. Congrats, really.

Missions: I'd like to see some pictures of you doing the processes and also, a better place for you to place all your results to take a beautiful picture.

Medals: I reckon you're very into expression your ideas to the world and it's impressive how you're not just the guy behind the screen, editing the videos. You're the one talking and leaving your message, so you have both skills. I like you're speech in the video. It touched me somehow. The soundtrack, lighting AND camera angles were just perfect to make the video even more "dramatic", persuasive and touching. Comparing to Chaplin's video now, I really visualize you achieve that aesthetic.

Missions: I'd like to see your sketches, specially the one from your speech. Were you always that good at writing? Have you tried setting the video in black and white? I don't know, just an idea. And also, did you use a blue shirt and frame for a reason? Write that in your sketchbook so maybe next time you could show us some more details of your processes.

This shows how confident and organized you are and also shows time-management skills.
The boats look amazing! But what about one of your tryouts, which there's a city underwater!? I liked its appearance, why did you not like it?

Missions: I would try to create even more collages for the narrative and actually conclude the "story". Since the beginning I had told you I recognized something different comparing to the other scenarios in the classroom and that's because you had 2 of them to work on. Good choice to experiment editing firstly in a different software, this shows you're not a careless person that's just satisfied with an average result. The passage of the waves looks smoother as well as the character's movements.

Mission: Show us some parts of your sketchbook sometime, it's important for the viewers to see how you think and go through your processes and ideas. Also, I'd try to add that part of the close-up you wanted to! You just have to research more about body language since you'll be wearing the mask. Go for it!

I wasn't expecting your zine to be like that and I loved it! Mixing 2D with 3D in such a small scale (zine) is something I'd never though of doing so congrats for the creativity. Your process is clear on your sketchbook and you spire me to really write down a "column" for the problems that came up. Thanks for that!

Mission: Next time, as you said, I'd tried different paper, folding technique of glueing material to use. Next time, try to experiment making the drawings a bit more realistic. Really, it can really be something amazing in your portfolio.
Try to put the pictures in black and white to see how they look and also, having a reference from the picture of the 3 face movements (the successful one), try to capture more than 5 movements, but crazier ones, in which your sister would be putting her hands on her face, and things like this.. You included different artists in your project and that shows you're an artist who's up to collaborate with others. I like the aesthetic of your drawings because at the saem time they look "melancholy" and dark, the colours you used changed that a bit, making it appreciable for people who don't really like these "creepy" types of drawing.

Missions: Even though I enjoyed your taste on music, next time try to turn the volume down a bit, because it was difficult to hear your voice. You showed a very great thought of redoing the project when combining the elements you felt missing from the first one. I enjoyed the narrative that the 4 drawings create and talk together.

Missions: I felt like you could have showed a little bit more of research, and I also agree with Fabiane, I don't think doing the drawings all in one day might have been a great idea, it seems too rushed and unplanned. You can think about this concept of the project of other perspectives but actually given the freedom to people show their perspectives, so, for example, when you make a childish drawing, you can ask a child to draw in comparison to yours. That can create a bigger narrative and a strong point for your concept.

The humor is on the right contrast, because it doesn't seem out of date, nowadays this kind of jokes and parodies of the end of the world are up to date.

Mission: This can became some deeper project, you can create this as a series of the Cats dominating the world or dominating different parts of the city, like your house, or the neighbor, etc. I also think you could create some sort of comic book with the frames you created, to give an even bigger meaning to the outcomes.

Medals: This idea of yours of representing one feeling/situation into a character is something I enjoy because it really shows your research and study behind people's perceptions and first thoughts about these situations/feelings. You indeed showed a lot of experimentation and testing in a way that all characters work well together. What really impressed me, specially because I don't have this skill, is that you can draw one character and draw the same one in different expressions and positions! I wouldn't be able do to that (;

Mission: I know our struggle to finish a project on time, specially when we want to do something big/complex but don't have enough time for that. That's why we need to organize and put on a paper what we have to do and how much time we think we'll need to complete something. I do think you should complete this project of yours on the holidays
