         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Why is this time period is significant? What was happening during this time period?&nbsp; <br><br>This time was significant to African- American empowerment and to show others that African- Americans can do the same things they can do. Although this time was during Segregation Performers were still allowed to sing at Famous Clubs like the Cotton Club and The Apollo. But there was a rule that supported segregation in some clubs that most Performers followed basically saying: You can work for me and bring me money but you <strong><em>CAN NOT</em></strong> sit in the seats to watch other Performers.&nbsp;<br><br><br><br>The Writers/Artist were also apart of the Movement by writing books about slavery and/or the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. There were Paintings and/or poems,books and songs that were made by African Americans. who strives to become more. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;2. What music is popular during this time period? What influence does the music have on people?&nbsp;<br><br>Popular Music was Jazz and Scat. Scat is when you Improv with your songs and create melody, rhythms and Harmonies. Jazz was a genre of music that origins back to African-Americans "characterized by improvisation, syncopation, and usually a regular or forceful rhythm, emerging at the beginning of the 20th century. Brass and woodwind instruments and piano are particularly associated with jazz, although guitar." The music had a Great influence on the people of America it made people want to dance and the musics lyrics mostly came from Slavery or Segregation.</div>]]></description>
