• Create a repeated pattern of geometric shapes and patterns to fill a large area, resulting in a large tessellated design inspired by Moroccan tilework.

Exploring traditional food and farming, discuss how people grow and eat different types of food around the world.

Engage:

·      Start the conversation with the students and ask if families cook any special meals for holidays. What do they eat, and why do they eat it? Is it a meal that they fix because it’s special, or is it just common for both families to cook that dish?

·      Read a book about traditions, foods people eat, and other countries eat during different holidays. Discuss where the food came from and how did they grow it or make it.

·      Make a map and label the countries.

·      Students will then use tape or magnets to place their lunch cards on the country where they think the food was eaten. The correct countries will then be written on the board.

Food is a central element in cultures around the world, and each has its unique traditions. This has been part of human history, where people have been limited to the foods that could be produced in their In regions. This helps to process the production process and the distribution of goods.

Example:

Correctly using each other’s names is a skill that both teachers and students can develop by normalizing the practice of sharing pronouns during introductions and allowing students to use their native language when possible, thereby creating a more inclusive environment.
