They have become an essential part of everyday life for almost everyone around the world. It is pretty much a requirement to have a laptop for high school or college. Without a computer or laptop, it is very difficult to complete task, like writing essays for example. It would take a long time to write out a five or seven paged essay by hand. Computers and laptops make doing tasks like this easier and faster. Computers and laptops are also very useful for looking up information about certain topics. We’re able to use search engines, such as Google or Bing, to find things out in an instant. The reason I chose this image is because us as a society have developed a dependency on computers and laptops to take care of our tasks. We also use computers and laptops to have fun, which could end up becoming an addiction. We have access to social media sites, we can play video games, and we can watch videos.

Almost anywhere you go, you will always see people looking or holding their cellphones. Cellphones are like a mini computer that you can carry in your pocket. You can, for the most part, accomplish the same things you could accomplish with a computer or laptop. You can play games on a cellphone, you can watch videos, you can visit social media sites, and you can search things up. Cellphones have also given us the ability to communicate with other people easily. All we have to do is either text the person or call them. The reason I chose this image is because, just like computers and laptops, these devices have taken society by storm. People don’t communicate face-to-face as often or as easily anymore because we use cellphones to communicate a majority of the time. Social skills are being forgotten and lost.

They have similarities to cellphones, as you can download things from the app store onto the tablet and you can also carry them around. They are similar to computers because you are able to watch videos on them, you can play games, and you can use them for work or school. They are definitely a lot cheaper than buying a computer or laptop and they are lighter. The reason I chose this image is because when we talk about the technology that has had the most impact on society, we don’t really talk about tablets too much. We will usually bring up computers, television, video game systems, and cellphones. It may not seem like it, but tablets have made a huge impact in the era of technology. I see kids in stores and restaurants that have a tablet with them while they are walking or sitting around. Even my own family owns two tablets. Tablets are slowly but surely going to be taking over society in the next few years.

Almost every household in the United States and other countries have at least one television. TVs have improved over the years and they are still continuing to improve. Televisions are a lot bigger, they produce high quality video, and they provide us with almost limitless entertainment. The reason I chose this image was because televisions, while they may be fun, can also have a negative impact on society. Televisions are one of the main factors for the increase in obesity. We tend to snack or eat more when we are watching TV, than when we are not. Most parents don’t limit their kids or sometimes even themselves on the amount of time they should be watching TV. It is pretty easy to become addicted to watching television.

Video game consoles are all over the place and the expansion of them is still continuing. The four biggest video game consoles are the Xbox One, the PS4, the Nintendo Switch, and the PC. New video games are only being made for these consoles. The reason I chose this image is because video games can have the same negative impact on society as televisions. You can easily become addicted to playing video games, just like you can become addicted to watching TV. Video games are a major factor for the increase in obesity because most parents don’t limit the amount of time their children play them. There are also not enough video games being made that actually make you get up and move around. The Kinect for the Xbox 360 did this, but it didn't last very long.

Headphones have exponentially increased in quality and in size. We now have beats by Dre headphones, which are some of the best, but most expensive headphones in the Beats Electronics industry. The sound of the headphones are nice and crisp and they reduce any outside noise. The reason I chose this image is because headphones have taken over society and almost everybody wears them. People are wearing them while they exercise, and they will wear them while they are running or walking. This makes it a little bit more difficult to communicate with other people because you don’t want to interrupt them while they are listening to something.

Lights and lamps are used pretty much everywhere because without them we wouldn't be able to see. Our society has found new ways to make lights last longer and shine brighter. I chose this image because we don’t take into consideration how important these items are for us. We use them all the time, but we don’t realize their value. Lights are actually used in every device that we use. Computers, cellphones, tablets, video game consoles, and televisions all contain a light.

Washers and dryers are actually a major component of the era of technology. Without them, we would be manually washing and drying our clothes which would take hours. These two machines make cleaning our clothes a lot easier and faster. I chose this image because it shows objects that we also take for granted. We don’t realize how easy we have it to be able to use a machine to wash and dry our clothes. There are people out in the world that have to manually clean their clothes. Washers and dryers are not a necessity, but they are a commodity.

Remote controls have advanced over the past view years to the point where we can change the channel or volume from a different room. Some remote controls are universal, while others are not. There is even a remote-control app in the android play store. I reason I chose this image is because we don’t really realize the significance that remote controls have had on our society. Now we don’t have to get up and change the channel or volume manually. We can sit in the comfort of our chairs or beds and change the channel with the push of a button.

Even though they aren’t talked about that much, they are still important. Microwaves help warm up our food or drinks, they can help thaw food items that are frozen, and they can help us make popcorn. Microwaves have improved over the years and have become smaller, more powerful, and expensive. The reason I chose this image is because microwaves have had a huge impact on our society. If we didn’t have microwaves we would have to use fire to cook or warm up all of our food. This process would take a lot longer because we would have to find wood to light the fire. Then you would have to tie the food over the fire and finally you would have to eyeball the food to see if it is ready or not. With a microwave, all you have to do is punch in the time and press start.

They are not talked about that often. Elevators are starting to appear in a lot of places. Elevators are pretty easy to use because all you have to do is push a button. There are elevators in hospitals, they are on college campuses in the residence halls, and they are in large malls. The reason I chose this image is because we are starting to treat elevators as a substitute to avoid stairs. This is not good, considering that there has been an increase in the rate of obesity. Elevators do make getting from floor to floor easier and faster, but they are also unhealthier. If people are only three or four floors from the main lobby, then they should be taking the stairs. The only time people should be taking the elevator is when they are on the highest or lowest floor of a building.

Refrigerators are able to give us water and ice, and they keep our food and drinks cold. Every household should have a refrigerator if possible. The reason I chose this image is because refrigerators are just as important as cellphones, televisions, and computers. Refrigerators can store plenty of food items and they will also keep food fresh. If we didn’t have refrigerators, we would have to use cellars or iceboxes to keep our food from spoiling.

I have seen people take their speakers to school and play music as they walk to their classes. Some people just have speakers in the dorm rooms to amplify the music they are playing. The reason I chose this image is because speakers are an underrated component of the era of technology. What we don’t realize is that most of the devices we use have a speaker. Cellphones, televisions, computers/laptops, and tablets all come with a speaker.
