First, we visited the “Palacio Municipal”. It is the headquarters of municipal powers and offers various cultural, social, and recreational activities. It was inaugurated in 1655 and it is located at the macroplaza. After that we went to the kiosk at the Macroplaza it is a place where lots of small artists can perform shows. Then we passed on to the Ignacio Zaragoza Monument which is represented by his horse. And to wrap up we lastly visited the Catedral de Monterrey which is also located in front of the Macroplaza it uses a Baroque Architectural Style and was built from 1705 to 1791 and was inaugurated in 1791 and the Monterrey Cathedral is a sacred space full of history, it is said that it represents faith, charity, and mercy. Each wall, each portrait, and each sculpture consolidate the evangelization of the city. And those were the 4 landscapes we decided as a team to visit. We also invite you to visit the macro plaza because it is a place full of shops, recreation and transit centers, and green areas along with old monuments and colonial buildings that contrast with the new constructions and that is what makes this place so special and is a great option to go with your family.

The movie El Infierno directed by Luis Estrada talks about the violence of drug trafficking and corruption. This movie is a clear example of the reality of Mexico then and also nowadays. This movie starts with a person named Benny who after being deported from the United States looks for a job as a mechanic in Mexico. After seeing that he lacks money he decides to enter drug trafficking since his uncle El Cochiloco was part of a cartel that was held up by Don Jose. He and his uncle start working for the cartel and soon enough they find out the dark secrets of Mexico. After a while, his uncle Cochiloco gets killed by the drug lord Don Jose. Time passes and Benny discovers that being in this world of drug trafficking is not that easy he decides to report all the secrets of Don Jose and his cartel to the police. To his surprise, the police also work for the cartel of Don Jose and Benny gets tortured and in the end, killed. This movie is a plain example of the corruption that goes on in Mexico involving the police. This also teaches us why Mexico is always in an economic crisis.

During the second presidential debate, the main topics to discuss were climate change, the economy, and poverty. During the debate the nicknames and attacks from the candidates were present and it affected the number of proposals given by the contenders for the presidency, however, Claudia Sheinbaum proposed to continue with the plans of the actual government regarding the economy, with social programs, salary increases, controlling the taxes and supporting the agriculture with programs regarding fertilizer. Also proposed a plan to attend to the hydric crisis and to promote the energy industry. Xochitl Galvez stated that extortion is one of the reasons the price of food is increasing, being one of the main problems for the families of Mexico. Galvez proposed programs to support entrepreneurs, as well as the need to boost green energies with the help of the private sector. The candidates of the PRI and PAN also proposed the investigation of corruption of works of the actual government like the Tren Maya. The candidate of the political party Movimiento Ciudadano, Jorge Maynez was more focused during the debate with proposals regarding jobs, like reducing the amount of weekly hours, changing things regarding vacations and paternity licenses, as well as reducing the wage gap, stating the importance of foreign investment and the need of a change to reduce the effect of the climate change through clean energies.

We visited the restaurant Fonda El Limoncito, this restaurant in the center of Monterrey is well known for its typical northern dishes, we thought that this place was very special because of the place it was very cool inside of eating, we all shared a dish which was frijoles con Veneno which was first made on 1970 in a restaurant called La Fe, this dish has as ingredients, roast pork with refried beans to which I added spoonfuls of the mixture obtained from the main stew, we liked this dish because the pork added a flavor in the beans that was delicious, and we enjoyed trying this dish together.

I liked doing this challenge because we were able to know more about the culture of the northern part of mexico for example by trying food and even cooking for ourselves a dish, also by going to places that we normally wouldn't go and get to know the places, also by watching the debate we learned about the candidates for the presidency which one of them will represent us for the next 6 years although some of us can't vote its good to still know this information, and also by doing it together I learned the value of working in teams and knowing that not always it's going to be easy but at the end, I think we did a great job.
