In 2013, Ellen Stackable came across a thought-provoking topic. She learns her state Oklahoma holds the most detained females in the whole country. Then in 2014, she decided to make a program called Poetic Justice to provide women writing classes. She began with one program in a prison but has spread to 5 different jail.

She has thankfully reached out to about 2,500 women.

Tina, from one of the programs, has received a 30 year long sentence at age 20. She began her addiction of methamphetamine at 13 and has served 3 years so far. A quote from Tina is, “Ellen is fantastic, she has helped through so much...she was there for me, and I owe her a lot.” Tina has obtained a valedictorian scholarship and was given free tuition for college.
