This chapter was so emotional just to think about losing your child and knowing that if you even make it out the situation alive your probably never going to see that child again. Just thinking of it gets me tearful and I obviously don’t have any children. I couldn’t even imagine what it would be like for it to happen to Mahmoud’s mother. 
The second thing I wanted to talk about was the fact that Mahmoud actually had to take the life vest away from a dead man. Though what dupeuses me the most was when he remembered all the time he had to see dead men and women. I have only seen a dead body once and it was at a funeral. I was really worried for Mahmoud and his family. Especially, Hana. One of the questions that come to my mind is, did Mahmoud's mother do the right decision for giving Hana? Will Hana be treated in a good way by that lady to who Hana was given? It must be so hard for Mahmoud's mom to give her own child when she doesn't even know if she will see her again in her life. I wished that they didn't have to do from this situation. 

If I saw a dead body multiple times like Mahmoud had to, I would have been frightened and hoping that shouldn't happen to us. I really think that Mahmoud could save his mother. I believe that Mahmoud did the right decision to take the life jacket from the dead body. It sounds weird to do that but it can save one person's life at least. Mahmoud knows how to swim and his mom is not in the condition to swim so, yes, his mom needs the life jacket. 

If I had to give Hana away, I would have, as Hana could be safe. That's why I think that Mahnoud's mother did the right decision. Even knowing that it could be hard for his mom but she still gave Hana. From that, I think his mom is really brave. I couldn't even imagine how would it have been for Mahmoud and his mom to give away their sister or child. They really are a strong family.

I find that Mahmoud was really strong and brave to handle so much throughout his life. It might be dangerous being in the sea as there might be sharks in there but he didn't give up with his hopes of surviving. 

This was really a sad chapter and scary too. I Hope Mahmoud and his mom will be fine and will get a place to stay so that they have more chances to see Hana again. I can't imagine how hard will it be to give your child away to a stranger and try to stay alive with your family in the ocean, being soaked by cold rain. I especially feel really bad for Mahmoud's mother because she just gave away her child to a complete stranger for the chance of survival. We will probably never know what that lady would do and if Hana will even survive with that lady. Who knows if Hana and her mother could ever see each together again? But I think Mahmoud's mother did make the right choice because its hard to stay afloat while carrying a baby. Its for their chance of survival. 

     I appreciate Mahmoud in this chapter because he got a life jacket from a dead man's body and instead of wearing it him self he gave it to her mother who is currently getting through a rough situation. Not only that but he was probably the only one who prayed for the dead man when he was taking off his life jacket and I think it was brave of him to take off the life jacket from a DEAD BODY because I would have been grossed out. But I do think he did the right decision because with the life jacket. Now Mahmoud's mother has a higher chance of survival.

     Hopefully Mahmoud's family would be rescued soon or else how would they survive the night. They're getting tired and humans probably do not have enough stamina to kick and try to stay floating forever in the freezing water. Same thing for Hana. I hope she will be treated well by that lady.

I think its scary cause 1 they gave Hana away to some random stranger. 2 there in the middle of the ocean with nothing to keep them afloat but the motivation of surviving and Mahmoud. 3 at that point his mother was barley even fighting and kicking to survive witch is scary and sad. why its sad. Think about it she is so tired while fighting to stay alive and even with all that she's crying so much she cant even see in front of her oh how could I forget the waters freezing. they don't have the rest of there family to help them its just them in the middle of the ocean they cant even try and see land because its pitch dark outside. Mahmoud also hade to pry a life jacket of a dead man and see him fall to the bottom of the sea survival of the fittest I guess? Why I think this was satisfying. They got a LIFEJACKET now Mahmoud doesn't need to worry about his mom and her head going under the water he doesn't need to worry about his head going under water. It wasn't as long as some other chapters, but still had some intensity. The scary thing is that Mahmoud and his mother are alone. they were separated from Waleed and his father, and the thought of what could be happening to them terrifies me. Hana was given to a stranger in order to save her, but even though it was the right thing to do, it is still a scary thought to have given your youngest child to someone you don't even know you can trust.

Mahmoud was an important character for this chapter. not only did lower their chances of death by taking a life jacket off a dead body, but before making the body sink, he took the time to think about the fact that he will never be able to have a true funeral, so Mahmoud started a memorial speech before making the body sink into the ocean. That was extremely respectful and kind of him to do that. Mahmoud was also really brave when taking the life Jacket off of the body. All thought he was scared he still had the courage to go take the life jacket.

I still have so many questions. Is Hana still safe? Will they find her at some point? Will everyone be safe? The only way to find out is to read the next chapters.

Well to start off i was scared that mahmoud's mother was going to drown because of how exausted she was and that was scary not only to me but mahmoud to. There was also when mahmoud took the life jacket from the dead man. Because i would be scared to touch a dead body just thinking of it gives me chills. Like i was kinda worried about hana to because i would be scared for my child if i had just given her up to stranger maybe the persone is bad and going to abuse hana so i kind of understand why his mom was scared for hana. At the same time i felt sad for hi mom because just loosing my child is sad and also to stranger thats even more sad because maybe your never going to see her again and that makes me sad.

 if i was in the same situation as Mahmoud i would not have the courage to take a life jacket of the dead body. it must take a lot of courage to do that. 

it must be hard too let go of Hana because you don't even know who see was and if see was a good person. who knows see might be a bad person. and you gave your daughter too a bad person.

i wonder if they will even get back on land. because the last 3 chapters were Mahmoud and his family in the water trying to get back too land and not to drown.

Mahmoud's family was in the water and the mother i think she was drowning or not but she needed a life jacket so Mahmoud spotted a life jacket with someone inside. Mahmoud and his dad went to go get it and they saw a dead person on it. I guess Mahmoud didn't care he just wanted his mom in a life jacket. I really though that there going to land at this point. But the most concerning thing in the chapter is his mother because she isn't feeling well after leaving her baby so she isn't thinking about life right now while mahmoud is the only one in reality.

 I'm quiet surprised why he gave the life jacket to her mother and not himself. Well it does make a little sense why she has the life jacket and not him because he can hold his mother while she swims.

I felt bad for Mahmoud and his mother because they had to give Hannah to a stranger so she could live. Honestly I don’t think that she is a bad mother for letting her daughter in a strangers hand , she was just trying to protect her daughter and she wanted her to stay alive. If I was a mom and this situation was happening I would of done the same thing , of course I would be sad 😞 that my kid isn’t there would me but I would sacrifice my life just so that my child could live. Now let’s talk about Mahmoud, I find that he is responsible for his age , I mean I know the mom is miserable and she felt guilty for what she did but she wasn’t looking for help or helping Mahmoud get the life Jacket of the dead body Mahmoud had to find a way to save him and his mom. He’s in the right path, I don’t know if there are going to survive but , with the waves 🌊 it’s dangerous. Mahmoud reminds me of Josef he’s not tottaly the man of the man of the family but he was being braved and he might save his mother and himself. They didn’t do exactly the same thing but they are both very brave , after everything they have been through, it’s difficult 😞. This chapter might have been one of the most devastating and scary chapters I've read. I thought it was devastating because they had to leave Hana to a stranger that they didn't even know.  In the book Mahmoud's mom was crying and sobbing and coudn't stop thinking about Hana. Imagine losing your sibling or your child: you would be devastated. I think Mahmoud might not be crying in the outside but is upset in the inside.

I also thought this chapter was scary because Mahmoud saw a man in the water and realizes he's dead. But also realizes the dead man has a LIFE JACKET! He went running to the dead man and tryed to take off his life jacket so he could use it for himself. But before taking it off he said a prayer. The prayer was heartwarming. When he was done the prayer, he unbuckled the last strap of the life jacket on the dead man and the dead man fell down to the mediterranean sea. 

Mahmoud's chapter was one of the saddest and scariest chapters. I hope they find an island to stay on. It would be tough for anyone to have to give there child away for survival. Plus they are in the middle of the Mediterranean sea and they are getting swarmed by the waves. If they could maybe find another dingy they would be able to go on and hopefully they can get to where Hana is. If I were in this situation, I would most likely do the same thing. They must be crying a lot after doing that. If I had a choice between saving my child or saving myself, I would save my child. I am afraid of what might happen to Hana.


I'm also scared because if Mahmoud and his family [Him his dad and his mom] don't get rescued soon, they might not make it thorough the night. There might be some dangerous creatures and natural disasters that can come to happen and I don't think that they have a lot of recourses because well, their in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, you see. It would suck to be stuck there alone with your family because if you get into an argument in the middle of a bad situation [like some family's] you might not see a disaster coming. Because I know because my mom tells me this all the time that loosing me is like taking a big chunk out of her and i could just imaging how horible and sad and angry Mahmouds mom is at her self. The worst thing is that she will be living with that her whole life knowing that she gave her daughter away to a stranger.


I really hope that Mahmoud and his mom can survive and that the dad will not be injured because the dad was my favorite Character in Mahmouds story. Back to Mahmoud it must have been really hard to take of the life vest off a dead person or even see a person.
