Seven years of friendship, yet there are so many many things to learn. A bestfriend who has always been there any time I needed her, and who has received the same support from me. There are hour long conversations, and 5 minute chats, that I have with Anahi. Conversations that just happen whenever we are by each other. I know her family, her past, and her dreams.

To record a ten minute conversation seemed like it would be a simple task, but to my surprise it wasn’t. I can tell you almost anything about this amazing girl, so what more could I learn from her. I seem to know everything that happens in her life, and what it is she is looking forward too.

The thing I was looking for was something new. I wanted to have this conversation to learn anything about her that I didn’t already. A moment in the years I’ve known her, that had a big impact on her, but I didn’t know about. To listen to her voice, telling me either of a moment she has gone through, or a moment she sees in the future for herself.

It is different to know that your voice is being recorded. There was a bit of awkwardness to begin with, and a sense for the answers she was giving to be right. But there is no right or wrong, just her thoughts. On my part I tried to make it as relaxing as possible, giving the impression that we were not being recorded. I think it went pretty well. I heard things I both knew already, as well as learning that unknown thing from her.

The end of the conversation was almost impossible to understand. It was not likely that I could remake this conversation, so instead I will just explain how it went. Anahi and I continued to talk about things I already knew about, until we began talking about her future and what she saw for herself. I thought I knew what career she wanted to study in college, but I was wrong. For the longest time I knew she loved fashion design, but wanted to go into nursing school. As I heard her speak about college and life after high school, she began talking about being an early childhood teacher. She explained to me her passion for being with children and being able to teach.
I begin to look into the future and can see her pursuing all three careers if she really wants to. I know Anahi has such big dedication to the things she is passionate about, so I know that later I will see her grow into the beautiful woman I imagine her to be. Whether it is as a children's teacher, a nurse, or a fashion designer.
