This article demonstrates the Ancient Wisdom red flag because it describes one of the ancient alternative medicine therapies that was used which was leech therapy that is also known as Hirudotherapy. Leech therapy has substances that work with hirudin in leech saliva to prevent blood from clotting and was used to heal illnesses. Although after long term use, leech therapy was proven to do more harm than good. Skepticism should be applied when determining if the use of leech therapy is appropriate. Hirudotherapy is still used today in certain situations but has many complications including anemia and the most serious being an infection that can result in skin loss, sepsis, or meningitis.

This video demonstrates the Red Herring red flag by diverting attention from the real problem, and bringing attention to an irrelevant side issue. The mayor distracts the citizens by bringing up illegal immigrants to divert their attention away from paying higher taxes. Many people with authority divert discussions with irrelevant information to distract the public to avoid answering the actual question because they are unable to state their status on the issue. Critical thinking should be applied for the public to understand the bear patrol is the cause of the higher taxes.

This video demonstrates the Suppressed by Authorities red flag because the government and public authorities have been suppressing the cure for cancer from the public. There is a conspiracy theory that there is a cure and in order for the government to make more money, authorities hide the discovery of cheap and effective cures for cancer. Some people complain that pharmaceutical companies have the cure for cancer but hide it to continue profiting from people who have cancer. Skepticism should be applied to whether a treatment for cancer has been discovered or not. Dr Stanislaw Burzynski, a doctor that claims he has successfully cured cancer outside the traditional institutional system and the system discovered his finding and fought against him and tried to put him in prison to steal his profits.

This video connects to the Agenticity because the government built a secret military base they called Area 51 that the public associated with conspiracy theories of alien landings and tiny spaceships that were stored there. In the government documents, Area 51 is described to be used to experiment pieces of military hardware and test aircraft due to the flat land that was required for the testing and the difficulty for US enemies to spy on. The first mention of Area 51 was on a TV show called “UFO coverup?” that focused on the possibility of the existence of UFO’s being covered up. A man on this TV show linked Roswell, a conspiracy in the news about a flying saucer of alien origin that was found in Roswell ranch, UFOs, aliens, and tiny green men. Later a man named Robert Lazar appeared on a TV show and stated “Area 51 was full of alien technology”. Lazar first peaked the interest of the public in the association of Area 51 and aliens and developed the conspiracy of the possibility these aliens were being held there. Lazar’s science behind his theories were debunked, although the public continued to believe in the existence of aliens. Skepticism and critical thinking should be applied to the conspiracy of the existence of aliens to recognize there is no proof or science behind the presence of aliens or alien technology being held at the area 51 military base. However, the public believes these claims because they want to understand and have an explanation for the unknown.

Emotions can blur reason and obscure rational thought. When something appeals to someone's emotions, the person is more likely to believe. 

Connection: Theresa Caputo is a well-known medium that claims to be able to channel the spirits of people who have crossed over, as she states. Caputo has a TLC show that has her meeting with people and giving readings about their passed loved ones. A medium automatically appeals to emotion as they are dealing with intense emotions surrounding losing people. There have been numerous rumours that she and her producers research the individuals beforehand. The linked article above talks about the experience of going to her live shows. As expected Caputo puts out vague descriptors that apply to many people in the audience. The article states that if something she says doesn't line up with the person she will twist it into having some sort of meaning. For example "she asked a grieving mother who had lost her grown son, “Why do I feel like you are holding him when he died?” When the woman shrugged, Caputo quickly covered by saying that that means he believes that she was always there for him." 
This shows that Caputo was playing off the emotions of a mother who had lost her son. When she appeals to the emotions of these people they are more likely to believe in her and her abilities, even if what she is saying is vague. The comfort that those simple words bring feeds into their growing belief in her. 

The public believes that Area 51, a military base, is holding spaceships and aliens captive without proof or science behind the existence of extraterrestrial life or alien technology.

This video was made by the youtube channel ‘Today I found out”. The video argues that Area 51 is used as a military base used for developing and testing new hardware and aircrafts. The first claim that caught the interest of the public that Area 51 held aliens came from a man named Lazar. He went onto a show and stated ‘Area 51 was full of alien technology”. This claim quickly turned into a conspiracy theory. There has been no confirming evidence that aliens are held at this facility. 

Evaluate Evidence:  
Lazar was a conspiracy theorist and self proclaimed physicist. Lazar intentionally went onto the show and pretended to be a government scientist to spread his theories to the public with no supporting evidence. By having no legitimate background in any science field, Lazar has no stable foundation/evidence to support his claims. Lazar failed to provide credible credentials and the school he claimed to attend had not heard of him. His theory was disproved for lack of reliable support.

Lazar had come up with his own theories about Area 51 and the idea that aliens and their technology were being held there by the government. When Lazar had presented these theories to the public, the general population assumed that these claims were coming from an educated scientist, as he claimed to be one.
