I enjoy this quote because it gives depth to Matty that the reader would not realize through his action and dialogue alone. He seems so at peace with the Seer and with his life in the village that you could not have told that in his passed he felt unloved and unwanted. After reading the first book "The Giver", and knowing how Leader (Jones from the giver) had felt in the community he grew up in gives the two characters a deeper emotional connection and similarity.

I agree with this book review that Lois Lowry has made this book more of a fairy tail rather than science fiction ike "The Giver" and that that is not a negative. I also agree with ne of the main ideas that it brought up. To be human does it mean to have a love of knowledge or a love of things? I believe the answer to this question based on this book is that it is human to have a true love of knowledge, but we must resist the temptation of trivial things to truly understand the world and each other. I would have personally liked to see the review bring up the connection that this book has to modern day politics. Mentor advocating for the building of a wall to keep out foreigners after losing his compassion is so similar to our president advocating to build a border wall to keep out immigrants that it's almost funny. The messages in this book really do ring true years after it was written

I would cast the Character Seer as Morgan Freeman. I believe he is the perfect actor for this role because of his roles as God in "I am God" and Jude Leonard White in "bonfire of Vanities". Seer is supposed to be a wise old mysterious man. Morgan freeman's voice is famous for its deep smart sound which is perfect for this character.

I recommend this book to anyone that enjoyed “The Giver” but doesn't mind that it is written more like a fairy tail the science fiction. It's a bit slow at the beginning so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for an action book. Some of my favorite parts in this book take place in the forest because it always keeps you on the edge and looking for signs to see if the characters are in danger. For example the difference in the description of the forest in the first half when Matty is by himself and at the very end is drastic.
