1. Closing the curtains during hot summer days to block the sun. This keeps the heat out so you wont need to use a fan to cool yourself.

2. Taking a short shower instead of a long bath. It takes about 25 gallons of hot water to fill the bathtub, compared to only seven gallons for a quick shower.

3. Use cold water in the washing machine. Hot water won't get the clothes any cleaner, and it wastes a lot of energy.

4. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth. You can save up to 8 gallons of water a day. That adds up to more than 200 gallons of water a month wasted.

5. Use a sponge when washing your car. A hose can waste 6 gallons per minute if you leave it running, but using a bucket and sponge only uses a few gallons.

31percent of Switzerland is covered in woods and close to 100k jobs are directly related to the vast timber resource. Switzerland isresource poor, but they have an abundance of wood, so the culture has evolved to use this resource in many products including their homes, which are historically all built from wood.

Costa Rica is one of the most sustainable countries because of its dedication to their forest and water systems in the country.

Austria is only 84k square kilometers and hosts a population of almost 8 million people. Of this area, 46% is forested land.
