In high school, I felt the teachers were more involved in my life, emotionally, socially and academically. You had 7 designated people making sure you succeed. College, that is all on you, your professors job is to tech you the skills and knowledge you need for your major. That is a blessing and a curse in college you are on your own you have supporters, not coaches, their are major consequences to your actions when you aren't putting your all in. When you start college you are given more freedom and independence, but when you are used to being babied in high school with numerous people making sure you are on the right track, turning in assignments. making sure you are getting enough sleep, leaving your job at an appropriate hour.
