Coming from a very white, suburban town in Connecticut I was very blind to the systemic racism in our country while growing up. Going to nursing school in Philadelphia opened my eyes and helped me grow a lot in this area, especially around noticing and fighting against racial inequities in healthcare. Shifting my focus from healthcare to the education system will be very enlightening I'm sure. As David said, this is a life-long journey and I look forward to learning, growing and making a difference with the Epiphany School community together!

Fun Fact: My husband and I had a COVID wedding last September (just the two of us), and then drove cross country to hike Zion and Bryce Canyon for our honeymoon!

I'm interested in joining the DEI team, because to me there is no other choice. I feel that we all have a responsibility to commit ourselves to DEI work, and that joining the DEI team is really the minimum requirement (in my mind) in a world that we are always gaining a better understanding of, and that involves SO MUCH that exists outside of ourselves. I'm here to continue to learn how I can do better, advocate for others, critically assess some of our school norms that we can improve upon to make more inclusive and equitable, and broaden our DEI scope.

Fun fact: My partner is an instructional assistant for 1st-3rd graders at Pacific Crest Montessori!

I want to be a part of this team with the hope that this will become the way of being and an expectation for ALL Epiphany staff. We must uphold and continue to build connection for underrepresented faculty, staff and students. I want to see tangible progress in our work and I believe the best way to do that is to step up and help make it happen! I also have a lot of my own growing to do, and I'm excited to be part of this group to hear others' perspectives and continue learning how I can be a supportive ally to my peers.

Fun fact: the fur baby in this photo (Bonnie) was a foster fail.
