Bruegel was born in the Netherlands and was apprenticed by Pieter Coecke van Aelst, who was a successful sculptor, architect and designer of tapestry and stained glass. Pieter Coecke had traveled in Turkey and Italy and Bruegel's art can be observed to have connections to Coecke's. Bruegel settled in Antwerp early on and stayed there as a resident for a while. In 1563 Bruegel married Coecke's daughter Mayken and Bruegel learned various art styles from Coecke and his family. Like Maria Verhulst, Coecke's wife's art style of watercoluor.

(Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Britiannica)
(Pieter Bruegel the Elder (ca. 1526-1569), Jacob Wisse)

Pieter Bruegel's travels influenced his art a lot in 1552. As he was traveling he observed the beautiful landscapes of Europe and illustrated them on his paintings. He rarely made the paintings on the spot, but rather when he returned home he would get to work.

(Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Britiannica)

Pieter Bruegel was a major impact on the Renaissance as he changed the way art was illustrated. He focused on landscapes and current life rather than the ideas of the greatest artists of the past century. He helped make sure that Renaissance art would curve into its own unique direction in Europe. Bruegel is best known for his paintings of landscapes.

(Pieter Bruegel the Elder, The Art Story)
