Petrarch had many contributions, however his devotion to the new humanism movement is what really impacted the Renaissance. Petrarch began traveling and studying latin. He then became an advocate for the union between the Christian ideals, and classical culture at the same time. This became known as humanism, and crowned him the father of humanism.
("Petrarch." Britannica Academic)

Petrarch also recovered Greek and Latin manuscripts. This was very important due to the fact that it uncovered confessions and letters of Cicero to Atticus, Brutus, and Quintus. He then wrote letters to these men, and his thinking in these texts represent the new ideas of the Renaissance.
("Petrarch." Britannica Academic)

Petrarch began thinking about how men can connect to nature and religion at the same time. His new theories helped him gain an understanding of man, and look back at ancient history and see how they thought, rather than how people turned to religion for everything in the Middle Ages. His new ideas led to people understanding how amazing and talented human-kind is. This led to a better education of most, new philosophies, and a new respect for mankind.
("Petrarch." Britannica Academic)

Petrarch is best known for his work, Canzoniere. A large part of Petrarch's career as a writer includes his pieces about Laura, a woman he saw at a church. He wrote many poems, and his famous collection called, Canzoniere or Song Book, and he writes about his love for her. He describes his emotions and proclaims his love for her in very poetic pieces. This collection eventually became one of his most famous pieces. The poems also exhibit the way he cherished her in a humanistic perspective. He would look at how she was as a person, and how amazing this was.
(Katharine Haber)
