Copyright is the law of copying other peoples work without permission. Copyright protects the website for the author so that their work doesn't get copied for somebody else's work. The only way not to get copyrighted is to ask for permission and/or site the source.
A good example of copyright os somebody doing a project over the civil war anf that person googles about it and copies the info off of the website onto their paper. They would get copyrighted for this action.
A bad example of copyright is someone retelling a story like cinderella. This person is telling the story without a book nor a website. Their are telling it in their own words.

Fair use helps you use a little bit of the website without being copyrighted. You can not use a big chunk though ,you will get copyrighted then.
A good example of fair use is when your doing a report over cells in science and you only use a tiny bit of the website. This person did not use a whole lot of the source ,they only used a fair amount.
A bad example is when you copy the whole website for your report. This person would get copyrighted on this report.

Public domain is when you can do whatever you want with that info on the website without permission.
A good example of public domain is when the author of the website dies. 70 years later the copyright expires. This is when you can use the website because it goes public.
A bad example is continuing to use the website without it being public yet. You would get copyrighted for this.

To site sources there are 3 easy steps.
1.)The first step is to put the symbol with the circle and inside of it d a C. This symbol stands for copyright.
2.)The second step is to put the year when it was first published behind the copyright symbol.
3.)The final step is to put the name of the copyright owner behind all of the rest.

Piracy is the act of reproduction of another's work without permission. if you had a picture or a website, you screenshot it , and then printed it, this would be considered piracy.
A good example of piracy is printing a piece of music for choir when at the bottom it has labels for it not to be copied. This also would be considered piracy.
A bad example of piracy is printing a picture ,that you took on you own. This would not be considered piracy because you aren't printing something off of the internet.
