1. I learned that it takes a farrier about 15 minutes to make a pair of horseshoes.  
2. Horses first wear horseshoes at about three years old.
When it is finished, a horseshoe can measure anywhere from 2.5-9 inches across. 
3. To attach the shoe, the farrier first files the hoof to remove any dust or sharp edges. 
4. After he files the hoof, he slips the horseshoe onto the horses hoof then gently hammers as many as three nails into each side.
