July 1465 - Henry VI captured and imprisoned at the Tower of London

The processor to Edward IV (Princes in the Tower), Henry VI created many unsuccessful military campaigns and was unable to conclude an heir for the throne. This, of course, caused political upheaval and a trend of disliking towards Henry VI. This led him to not only imprisonment, but eventually death at the Tower ("Henry VI").

1988 - Made a UNESCO Heritage Site

Because of the convenient location of the fortress, the Tower of London gives protection, stories, and control which greatly impacts historical knowledge as a whole! ("Tower of London").

February 12, 1554 - Lady Jane Grey and Her Husband are beheaded

Lady Jane Grey, the short lived queen of England, was put to death at the early age of 15 for high treason. Growing up in high status, Jane was extremely well educated and also moved around a lot. As her father gained position as Duke of Suffolk, she was arranged to marry into the Dudley family under King Edward VI. This arrangement allowed Suffolk more political status and gave Edward a Protestant connection. After Edward's death, Dudley and Jane were supposed to be put onto court, but Mary Tudor, Edward's sister, showed proof that she was meant to succeed the throne. Suffolk, in order to keep his family's power, fought against Mary in order for Dudley and Jane to keep the throne. This did not go over well and sent him and his daughter to the Tower of London for high treason. After being pardoned, Jane and Dudley were both beheaded and soon later her father (Morrill).
