Rick Nolan.

Joe grew up mining, hunting and fishing with his family in Minnesota.
Joe is dedicated to help working class families, like the one he grew up in.

Joe experienced a horrifying event when he was young. His mother was shot and killed by his great grandfather, who then killed himself. Joe is not vocal about gun reform issues though, because of the culture in Minnesota's 8th district to help him get elected.

Joe got involved in politics because of cuts to rural schools. Ever since then he has been fighting for better public education.

Joe is determined to fix the healthcare system, support the middle class, an emphasis on workers and working class families, and protect Social Security and Medicare.

Joe's platform is focused on giving equal and fair opportunities to workers and families. Most of Joe's issues line up with the DFL's party platform, but Joe does not believe that politics should be involved on the issues of mining.

Joe's issues and policies put him as a very moderate democrat, causing him to cross over the line on some issues.

Joe is 32 years old and engaged to former house member Carly Melin.

Pete Stauber is the Republican Nominee running for congress in Minnesota's 8th congressional district.
Pete served as police officer for 22 years in Northeastern Minnesota. He also served on the Herman-town City Council for 8 years, and as of now is a St. Louis County, Minnesota Commissioner.

Pete grew up in Duluth, Minnesota playing hockey. Pete was an excellent hockey player throughout high school. He went to college at Lake Superior State where he was the star player on the hockey team. In 1988, Lake Superior State won the NCAA Division I championship. After winning, Pete and his team were invited to the White House to meet the president, which at that time was Ronald Regan. Meeting Regan, started Pete's interest in politics.

Pete has very clear cut conservative issues. Pete supports the 2nd amendment, is pro-life and supports the ongoing tax reform to put money back into families pockets.

Pete believes in the hardwork and dedication of Americans. Pete is in an example of the new GOP platform emphasizing blue collar support in jobs and opening up jobs in the steel and mining industries in Northern Minnesota. Pete is more conservative on issues like immigration but is more traditionally democratic on labor and trade issues like tariffs. Pete would be placed firmly in the republican "camp" on the flat line spectrum. His values and perspectives on issues are very traditionally established.

Pete is married to Jodi Stauber and has four children.
