"When my men come to release us, you will wish perhaps, that you were in a better plight that caught poaching on a neighbor's land, shame on you."

As it revolves around the intense and long-standing feud between two families, represented by Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym. Both men are determined to harm each other due to past grievances and a sense of honor tied to their family's land. Conflict exceeds an important role in the story, it develops the story by introducing deeper meaning and focuses on the weaknesses, emotional state, values, etc, in the characters. Conflict helps realize the situation and state of what is currently happening and helps improve it later on.

Quote: "But as for me, I've changed my mind. If my men are the first to come, you shall be the first to be helped, as though you were my guest."
Ulrich's internal conflict takes center stage as he confronts the moral and emotional complexities of his situation. He battles with his own conscience, torn between his family's age-old feud and the newfound desire for reconciliation. As he lies trapped beneath the fallen tree, he grapples with questions of personal honor and the legacy of his family's vendetta. Ulrich's introspection forces him to question whether continuing the feud, even in the face of a life-threatening situation, is truly justifiable. The emotional turmoil he experiences represents a profound internal struggle, where he must decide between clinging to his past grievances or embracing the possibility of a more peaceful future, all while facing the immediate threat of impending danger.
