Alfred Hitchcock was a man who had a great influence on film history with many well-known filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, who was inspired by Hitchcock. 1. Body Doubles has more humour to reduce the tension and to some, it loses the impact of the film.
2. With the directors noticing this, in future Thrillers, there are less humour and more tension. This applies to Steve Neal's genre theory, where there's repetition but also different so that the audience can keep on being engaged.
3. Zodiac had tension building up from nothing as the main protagonist was obsessed with finding out who the Zodiac killer is. - In the early days of film, the women were usually only the damsels or the victim of a murder.
- Nowadays there are more women characters being prominent and not as many women were victims as they were before.
- Most of the endings in older Thriller films allow the audience to feel Catharsis because the villain was defeated. However, nowadays, Thrillers are now more open-ended or have a bad ending. This makes the audience feel tense and think about their morals.
- The opening changes too, from the 2015 Sicario film, there was a huge bomb opening to make sure what the audience will see.
