One of the things I liked the most about Belgium was the calm on the street and people. It is not common to find people talking loudly, they are very polite and quiet even when driving, they are very prudent with the car. Another point that I want to remark is that a lot of shops and businesses close at 18 PM. This could sound sad for the environment of the city, but it allows families to be together in the evening. Another point that I love is their relationship with bikes. They move everywhere by bike, from young people to the oldest people. Nevertheless, despite it being a cliché, I miss the sun and the food of Spain. We are not conscious about how important it is until we don’t have it.

When I came back to Barcelona, I decided to use the bike more. Despite my city not being so adapted to the bike since I came to Belgium I like to use it daily.

In short, If you want to visit an European city but with a new concept, you have to try Amsterdam.

Nevertheless, the main characters are scientists and freaky people who not only speak a little bit quickly but also use strange vocabulary. This point could be an advantage and disadvantage because sometimes it is difficult to follow but at the same time is funny and you learn new vocabulary.

If you are looking for a series to watch in English and you like the Sitcom format, I really recommend you Big Bang Theory.

I think many of those movies are well known with the exception of Just Mercy which I consider a diamond in the rough and it is the one that I recommend watching anytime. In the movie stars Michael B. Jordan, Brie Larson and Jamie Foxx and it shows the real life story of a defense attorney in charge of death row inmates in Alabama a country that is depicted as very racist in the movie time setting, 1990. The main topics of the movie are racism and integrity, and I recommend it very much. 

I had the chance to enjoy this awesome show. The performance was cool and surprising. Each artist did an amazing job. They are very professional and have every action perfectly prepared.

Colors, music, sounds, emotions, feelings, sights, every detail becomes such an achieved wish, that also turns to be an unforgettable memory for the rest of your life. It is totally recommendable!

I have learned a lot in this period of time, and I have set up several communications with other colleagues who work for the same company in other countries. We usually have meetings online to discuss tasks, targets and particular projects, all of them related to engineering processes and the productivity of our factories. It is very important to check and have every detail under control, in order to avoid having surprises. Some weeks ago we had an important two hours meeting where I felt very confident and comfortable, speaking with fluency in English!

Last week it happened that he was put in charge of the installation of a new component that he never touched before and so, he was given a manual explaining the steps to follow. However, all the text was in English. We searched for instructions in Spanish on the official website but, we couldn’t find any. In this situation I offered my help translating the manual and explaining how to properly calculate the measures. Happily, the next day he could install it without problems.

In this situation I felt happy as I was able the help him thanks to knowing English. 

 

 

The talk was very interesting and obviously it was in English.

 

Rada had in that moment an exhibition in Barcelona named “Invisible captivity” 

 

 

Firstly, because of the leisure system of Belgium where just the films for kids are dubbed. For example, in the cinema, the films are always projected in the original version with subtitles.

Secondly, because his mother tongue is Flemish and it is not a useful language to communicate over his zone.

Finally, because he is living in Gent, which is a student city where a huge part of the population are foreign students.

When I am chatting with him I don’t stop learning new words, expressions and his sentences are an example of how to write in a grammatically correct way.

For this purpose, and considering the necessity of sharing that remarkable information and data, we made some reports in English. We had to use a formal language and a suitable technical vocabulary.
