Boo Radley

"Boo was about six-and-a-half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained—if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off. There was a long jagged scar that ran across his face; what teeth he had were yellow and rotten; his eyes popped, and he drooled most of the time."

As we all can see here, Boo Radley was such a terrifying and dangerous man according to Jem's description, but actually he wasn't, he was a really nice man instead. So here, we can see how the role of judgement affects Jem's perception of Boo Radley or our perception of others nowadays.

Lee, Harper, To Kill A Mockingbird, New York, Hachette Book Group, December 1982, Page 78

Mr. Dolphus Raymond

"Cry about the simple hell people give other people without even thinking. Cry about the hell white people give colored folks, without even stopping to think that they're people, too."

Mr. Dolphus Raymond lived with a colored woman and preferred his biracial kid to white kids. People in Maycomb had different judgements on him and spread to others without even considering if they were right, even the kids thought he was a weird man. So he pretended to be drunk by always carrying a paper bag which made others think inside that bag was whiskey, but actually he had been drinking coca-cola for the whole time. He did that just because he wanted others to have their own answers for their questions and judgements on him. Here, we can see how the judgements of some people affect others perception of Mr. Dolphus Raymond.
Lee, Harper, To Kill A Mockingbird, New York, Hachette Book Group, December 1982, Page 269

"In our society with different nationalities and ethnicities, we depend on the ability to interact with people primarily through sight. Therefore, we worry about our appearance a lot and how people will “Think of us” or “Think of me” if I spent all day wearing this T-shirt or not matching my pants, and women worry about carrying a well-known brand of bag. Hence, we spend a great deal of time and money tweaking our image to make it more fitting to others."

Olama, Mohammad Al, "We live in a judgemental society", Gulf News, 5 July 2014.
https://gulfnews.com/news/uae/society/we-live-in-a-judgemental-society-1.1356082
Accessed 22 Aug. 2018.
