Wick Aherns, Humpback Whale Plaque - Wick Aherns, Weston Vermont. Bass Wood Humpback Whale Plaque. Signed front lower right. Hand painted- antiqued finish. Aherns studied at the Vesper George School of Art and the San Francisco . Art Institute. He was mentored by his Vermont neighbor, whale carver Clark Voorhees. Aherns' whale sculptures are found in several whaling and maritime museums, and in corporate and private collections from coast to coast.
