Tom & Jerry,(Mark Clair and Denis McFarlane, also known as 4Hero, are a Jazz, Jungle drum & Bass and breakbeat duo from London. I fell in love with this style of music and particularly their tracks. The breakbeats, samples, sound design, speed and feel of Jungle had me hooked. Especially Tom & Jerry's tracks which are fun, full of movement and happiness from their choices of samples and the way they style their tracks. They have influenced me strongly and I strive to make good quality old school styled Jungle due to the impact their music had on me, they helped me become addicted to the 90s Uk EDM sound and scene. I would love to get to the level of sampling and production that they operate at. They are one of the reasons I started listening to and producing jungle drum & bass they are very influential for me. I look for ways I can create a similar sound and gather ideas through their music.

A Guy Called Gerald (Gerald Rydel Simpson), is an Acid house, Jungle, and Drum & bass producer from the Uk. Gerald was a member of the early, and largely influential Acid house group, 808 state. This connects to Tom & Jerry as Acid house would spawn breakbeat Hardcore which Tom & Jerry would produce during their early years. Breakbeat hardcore moved into Jungle later on where Tom & Jerry would produce some of their best, most known and influential tracks of their careers. A Guy Called Gerald who produced Jungle, which had a side of Jamaican and reggae influence while also having a dark, ambient and urban side, would influence Tom & Jerry's music as they styled their Jungle with more of an R&B and reggae feel as A Guy Called Gerald did.

Boosty Collins is an American Bassist who worked closely with James brown. Boosty Collins plays many genres ranging from Jazz, funk, soul, R&B and Hip hop. All genres which influenced Jungle music, especially Tom & Jerry's funky, soulful, Jazzy and melodic style they are most known for. Also Boosty working closely with James Brown can also be seen as an influence as the Drum break from Brown's Funky Drummer is heard in lots of Jungle Drum & Bass songs, and heard lots in Tom & Jerry's Jungle tracks.

Derrick May

Derrick May is a producer from the US who specialises in production of Detroit techno and house music. Derrick's music had an influence on the Uk rave scene aswell, with his track strings of life influencing many producer's in the breakbeat hardcore scene during the early 90s. This connects to Tom & Jerry as their first productions were breakbeat hardcore. Detroit Techno which Derrick produced was also a key influencer of Jungle music, under Kevin Saunderson's passage in, i-d.vice.com (2015) "I remember playing Derrick May's Strings Of Life and thinking what a fucking tune that is." There is a clear link from Jungle music to that of Derrick May's production. This ties to Tom & Jerry further for their major productions in Jungle drum & bass.
