In another class, my professor asked the class, "What professions will last as technology advances?" Not one student said a teacher/educator and their reasoning was that there will be robots that will teach the classes. This will definitely not be in the next decade but it is scary to think that this is how people are thinking. I think to avoid robotic teachers, teachers need to become more advanced and make better connections with their students. By keeping up with technology, it will keep students interested. In the next decade I think all children will still be required to go to school up until they graduate high school. Children who are 16 will not be allowed to drop out, that will not be an option for them. I think over the next decade, schools across the country are going to continue to be seen as one of many political battlegrounds. They will be weaponized as a way of pushing one's own agenda onto a slate of developing minds, and in turn will also be used as a way to attempt and create distrust in opposing political parties. Furthermore, in a post pandemic world, now more than ever, schools are going to be forced to begin the transition into increased technological utilization. While there will be a learning curve for teachers who have been teaching for a long time, there is also bound to be a learning curve for what is acceptable when it comes to student moderation. There have been numerous instances of students not being monitored enough leading to some sort of disaster, but inversely, many instances where said monitoring led to a blatant invasion of the student's privacy, leading to situations that may have never occurred has the student's privacy not been invaded. Finally, there is likely going to be a drastic increase with parent involvement when it comes to what their children is learning and how it is being done. Teachers will likely have to struggle with parents that want to micro manage every aspect of their child's education, or parents who want to accuse the teachers of indoctrination of their child into a particular mindset.

Relief/Benefits

I believe that all of these struggles will lead to benefits. Through continued political discourse, we will eventually reach a breaking point, at which time, we will hopefully be able to finally see past our differences and focus on making sure that schools are well equipped to do what they are supposed to; educate the next generation. We will hopefully see the implementation of new and more effective standards, as well as increased funding for new supplies, and better support for teachers who work hard to make sure the students succeed. I also think that through the forced implementation of technology, we will eventually find that happy middle ground where we permit students enough freedom to live their lives as normal, without invading their privacy, but also be able to monitor for any signs of dangerous plans or thoughts, and help those students in particular find the correct resources to help them. Furthermore, technology all around is good for our students, as the numerous benefits it provides, when utilized correctly, can serve to strongly enhance and reinforce their education. I hope that advances in technology are not met by schools to put the same weight on their students which could deter them from continuing their education. By saying this, I mean to say that students will incrementally pave the way for the course of education to change. Still, it must be noted that education cannot change if we, as educators, are not willing to be open-minded and mindful of the changes coming our way. Growing up in the public school system, I never felt I had a voice as a student, and I hated it! So, part of the reason I want to be an educator is not only so that I can make a change in the system but to help future students feel everything I did not -accepted, empowered, and determined. If students do not feel that they matter or have a voice in the classroom, then they will likely go out into society feeling the same way and in turn, be less readily inclined to associate with others and absorb knowledge. It is possible that these students will have a chain reaction on subsequent generations, generating a never-ending cycle of students who feel closed off from the world around them. It is only when students feel as if they have an impact in the classroom that they can go out into society with that same attitude - feeling proud and accomplished in who they are - to make a change. 
To add on, some educators believe that students only attend school to acquire knowledge in a subject area and then go home. And while that is true, oftentimes, these educators tend to dissociate the students from their mental and emotional needs. However, education cannot happen without being there for our students mentally and emotionally. By being there for our students, we have to be willing to put our self-importance and egoistic tendencies aside. We have to make room for our students to feel safe and accepted. In other words, we have to put ourselves aside for a moment, and give them the opportunity to grow and develop. By doing the aforementioned, our students will be in the process of changing the course of education. Students will be able to take initiative, make their own judgment, and rationalize. 
Therefore, to only say that technological advances in the future will lead to the peak of education is a little concerning and unfair. As educators, we should not only believe that technology will change everything, because technology is advancing more and more every day. Instead of only looking at how technology changes education, we should look at how our students play a significant role in our lives as educators, thereby changing education. I guess what I am trying to say is that it is only when we truly start listening to our students will the course of education change. And, I am in favor of giving power to the students. Students should feel free to take risks, challenge themselves, and blossom into an asset to society. I have come to the realization that I, myself, am not entirely sure what the next decade of education will look like. One thing for sure, though, is that we have to be cognizant of the fact that as technology changes, so will each generation of students. Likewise, each generation is constantly superseding the previous. But, if, as educators, we keep our minds open to ideas, new perspectives, and different rationales, then we too will be aiding the change of education.

A major piece of this evolution will be technology. After being forced to depend on it during the Covid-19 Pandemic, technology will only become more and more involved in our system of education. This will be beneficial as technology has so much to offer us as educators. It allows us to be more creative than ever before and explore new pathways in educating students. iPads and laptops come with so many cool ways to learn and grow as students. However, as we welcome more and more technology into the field of education, it is important that we do not become fully immersed in the digital world. It will still be important to work with physical objects and learn how to write with actual pens and paper. Eventually, the debate over online schooling and in-person learning will come to the table. I believe that it is super important for children to go to school every day and physically be in a classroom with other students. We can not let the field of education turn fully virtual. There has to be a way to keep physical classrooms running and bolster them with the endless amounts of technology that we have in today's society.

As a result of this, it will lead to the continuation of teacher burn out, as well as teachers stepping down from their position. Technology also plays a huge role in that, with news being able to be shared in an instant from news apps can help information be spread at alarming rates in the next decade, and that can have a huge impact and students' development and their ability to see what is happening in the world and what they think of it.

Fears: While I do believe that in the next decade that great change will come, like further integration of technologies and less divide between gendered future jobs, I do have to fear for students who are learning in places like Florida who have things like the 'Don't say gay" bill in place. It can create a very harmful mindset for students and can restrict vital parts of modern education that students need to learn about. I also fear that with the direction the supreme court is heading, the overturning of roe v wade, they may decide to "reevaluate" brown v board of ed. and that would have truly devastating results in schools throughout the country. Teachers/Professors have learned how to adapt their lessons to fit the online platform and now have been able to switch between the two creating a hybrid class. Although our alternative way of learning has helped us in unimaginable ways, we should try to keep that in-person way of schooling as that will force students to get up and go to school. It is very easy to get distracted when doing school from home so finding the balance between the use of technology and in-person schooling is definitely crucial. Additionally, it is essential that we keep trying to incorporate students interests into the mainstream curriculum. In comparison to years ago mental awareness has grown so much, I think this is also extremely important and useful to the teaching community. Education completely changed during COVID where everything went online, my whole first year of college was online. The idea that school is a political environment I believe will always be relevant. The way that children are taught in schools continues to affect the students' political views and persuade them to think differently about many political concepts. I also believe that technology will be more heavily incorporated into schooling systems. We have already started to only have online assignments, and because of covid, we have already started to become very comfortable with this type of technological environment and having online class.
