The motion shows you pulling it out of a sheath and waving it.


Here are some ideas for other types of swords:


For a broadsword, a C handshape can show the width of the blade.


For something like a saber or a rapier, a g handshape can show how narrow the blade is.


You could curve your movement to specify a scimitar or a hook sword.


In any case, your movement should be used to show the length of the blade, unless you're classifying what you're doing with the sword.
