How do you feel about grades?

What will be the ideal school system? No grades or a grading system?

I wonder why the article argues that grading interferes with education but uses different grading systems as an alternative approach

I feel like letter grades could be useful in some sense but overall I do agree that when using letter grades it doesn't promote learning but reaching a goal of passing a class. Why do teachers let students "slip through the cracks" and not actually give them efficient constructive criticism that help students improve their work?

Question: Will removing grades would actually make students more motivated to learn, or could it lead to less effort because there’s no clear measure of success or marks?

What could come with not having a letter graded system? How could that be beneficial?

Do kids only shoot for As rather than memorization because they're lazy or because they don't view what they're doing as important? Shooting for As is portrayed as horrible in the article, but I don't think it's bad since students are forced to take a subject they don't want and they won't need. Some people may have decided what they'll want to pursue, so anything else becomes a bother or a distraction, and to deal with it, they have to shoot for an A, and then forget all about it because the information is useless (what would a future business data analyst need to take an art class, biology, chemistry, World History, etc.)

If grades push students to focus on performance instead of real learning, what could schools do to make sure students will stay motivated and accountable without the A-F system?
