Multidisciplinary visuals, text, historical context, bring 70s music to life--Imagine, Take Me Home, Country Roads, Rocket Man--highlighting the historical contexts from which its diverse genres emerged.

I can diversify Checks For Understanding in my class. I can be creative in how I ensure students are understanding theory. I liked seeing the different answers Elliott's students had on their worksheets and how they were able to work through placing each song into a different genre. Maybe even I can use music in my course since it's a subject that brings people together, and there are many artists/songs with which most people are familiar.

Beautiful seminar discussion on personality - I love that Mr. Vaughan gave the students voice and choice for how to group themselves to support the most productive seminar discussion--whole class; smaller groups; fish bowl. The students chose two groups and fishbowl. It upped their investment from the beginning and led to an environment in which all appeared comfortable sharing so deep learning could take place.
