A tube placed this way is called a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, or PEG, tube. To place a PEG tube, the doctor advances an endoscope down the patient’s throat into the stomach.The NG tube is inserted through the nose and is used for a <mark>short time. </mark>The G-tube and J-tube are inserted through a small incision in the skin on the abdomen and are for <mark>longer-term use.<br>PLUS&nbsp; POINT <br></mark>While NG tubes are easier to place, tube removal is common and proper positioning is essential to prevent potential respiratory complications.
