Earlier that year, they had received their Spirit Names from  elder Gloria Oshkabewisens. The elder spoke and educated the congregation about the importance of Spirit Names and rites of passage. Gifts were also bestowed onto the boys from caring Native Parishioners and the church. During fellowship, the boys offered food that they enjoy such as elk, bannock and strawberries.

We need to celebrate all the ways people give through our church and acknowledge the service people help us provide. If we recognize that service we can see these 'people on the fringe' of our congregation as a valuable resource, acknowledge their work and ask for their help more often. People need to feel needed .We have room for all in our family of faith. Also, these folk who don't necessarily attend our services often contribute financially to our work .

The short services Rev. Dawn Vaneyk did before our tree trimming, Good Friday, etc were well attended and tremendously meaningful .I would hope this tradition would be upheld and perhaps expanded.
