A: FINISH THESE SENTENCES using the words VOLUME, CELL MEMBRANE,  and anything else you learned in the bubble lab OR the gummy bear lab.

If the cell membrane lets water IN, then an apple will taste juicier because the more water the cell membrane lets in that goes to the vacuole, the juicier the apple will taste. It also increases the volume of the apple when there are more water molecules.

If the cell membrane lets water OUT, then an apple will taste more dry because the less water an apple has in the vacuole, than it will be dryer than an apple with more water molecules. when this happens the volume of the apple also decreases.

B: Draw or an attach a picture that supports your understanding of the cell membrane's role on an apple's taste!

If the vacuole expands, then an apple will taste more crunchie because there will be a higher turgor pressure, so the cells will be crunchier and more juicy.

If the vacuole shrinks , then an apple will taste more mushy and soggy because the vacuole won't be big enough to create a high turgor pressure, so it will be soft and mushy

B: Draw or an attach a picture that supports your understanding of the vacuole's role on an apple's taste!

A: FINISH THESE SENTENCES using the words LAMELLA, CELLS, CELL WALL,  and anything else you learned in previous levels.

If the lamella is sticky, then an apple will taste juicy and crunchy because the lamella will be able to hold the cell walls together, which allows it to be crunchy when you bite into it. It will also be more juicy because, since the lamella and cell walls will be strong, and not break into the individual cells when you bite it, the juice can break open. The lamella and cell walls will be strong if they are new or stored properly, because the older an apple gets the weaker the lamella is.

If the lamella is not sticky , then an apple will taste dry and mushy because the lamella will be weak and unable to hold the cell walls together. when this happens the apple breaks apart into the individual cells when you bite into it. this also stops the apple from being juicy because the cell walls are not strong enough to allow the juice to come out of the cells.
