Many people had thought that Jonas was a very kind and considerate person based on some of the things they had found. From bathing the older woman, to making sure everyone he knew was comfortable, he was a very thoughtful and observant person as well. When I see Jonas, I feel very surprised that a person who has grown up in the perfect place could be so kind. When I think of perfect I think of pressure, but no know talked about having pressure put on Jonas or the overwhelming feeling of nothing. Jonas had put his kind side forward, and made sure that he was living to the fullest extent as well as the best extent. Jonas seemed to make everyone happy and willing to live in such an enclosed and perfect place. So no one knew not even Jonas, until he remembered about the apple, they he took into consideration that this was something a little more serious than he had ever imagined. The author is trying to make us see that this town isn’t normal. It’s different from our everyday life, different from what we know. It’s also very creepy and everything’s unclear at the moment. 
This story/passage had a significant impact on my thinking about places/towns that have different rules and thinking from my own. This place is very organized and orderly so it makes people feel safe. The more rules there are and the more punishments for breaking those rules, people will feel safer and it will seem perfect. The quote is important because the elders saying it are trying to make people feel safer. The guy in the airplane was breaking a rule and it make everyone uneasy. That airplane driver is now going to be released.
