What I think about the positive representation of literacy is that there has been a lot more recently, but for a few years, I felt like phones, tablets, YouTube, and TV constantly took over people's free time. People find reading or literature, in general, hard work. When they get home, they want to turn off their brain and relax by mindlessly scrolling on their phone. Reading takes time and energy, which people don’t want to do. But just in this year or two on TikTok, I felt like books started to “trend” due to “Booktok,” where people go onto TikTok to talk to other people who read the same book as them, basically an online book club and that has made reading more popular. But overall, I feel like we are returning to that positive representation of literature.
