There are two tests that can be done during pregnancy to detect Down Syndrome. Screening tests and diagnosis tests. Screening tests are done and is a combination of testing the about of substances in the mothers blood and an ultrasound. During the ultrasound the technition looks to see if there is extra fluid behind the baby's neck, which could indicate a genetic problem. Then a diagnostic test is done if the screening test comes back positive to confirm the Down Syndrome diagnosis. Diagnostic Tests include chorionic villus sampling (CVS), which examines material from the placenta, amniocentesis, which examines amniotic fluid, or percutaneous umbilical blood sampling (PUBS), which examines blood from the umbilical cord.

- People with down syndrome are becoming more and more integrated into everyday society such as in school, work, social, and recreational activities. Every child is different and what they are capable of and should have different adaptions and accommodations.
- It is most common that children with down syndrome are placed in the education system where they learn alongside their general education peers. There are many benefits to this, but the teacher may need to modify certain exercises to get the maximum benefit out of the material.
- Teachers may want to change assignments and/or the delivery of the material. Some adjustments may be straightforward, such as extending time limits or giving them a copy of the notes, or reducing how long a paper has to be. Others may need more help learning and needs more help of a teachers assistant or through special support sessions at a certain time during the day.
- Ensure learning is multi- sensory and includes lots of visuals and examples.
-Help them stay focused, feel comforable, develop relationships with teachers and peers, stay organized, encourage, and motivate.
