Feat: The war of 1812

War of 1812 (1812-1815) was a conflict between the United States and the United Kingdom. The war stemmed largely from complaints that the British had been interfering with American shipping. One of the main reasons that the war got to be very bad was because of faulty ways of sharing information between the Americans and the British. The war eventually escalated to the point where the Americans raided a British colony in modern day Canada, and the British invaded Washington D.C and burnt down the white house. this had to do with Andrew Jackson because he was a very prestigious general during this time.

The voting rights were when Andrew Jackson gave voting rights to all white males. Usually only white males who owned property got to vote. This connects to Andrew Jackson because he allowed all white males to participate in the government. This was a feat because he let the people take part in the government.

Failure: The Trail of Tears

The Trail of Tears was when Andrew Jackson initiated a series of forced removals of the native Americans from their southwestern homes and lead them on the trail of tears to west of the Mississippi river, and most of the Indians ended up in modern day Oklahoma. The relocated people suffered from exposure, disease, and starvation while going on the trail of tears, and more than four thousand died before reaching their various destinations. The removal included members of the Cherokee, Muskogee (Creek), Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw Indians. eventually, the treaty of new Echota came to light and the Cherokees left all of their land and receded into Oklahoma Indian reserves. this had to do with Andrew Jackson because he lead out the "forced removals" on the native Americans ad also approved it (because he was the president at that time) and the reason it was a failure was because Andrew Jackson committed the removals in a very genocidal fashion.

This connects to Andrew Jackson because he said that the states didn't have the right to repeal federal legislation. This is a feat because it showed that Andrew Jackson had the power and strength to say no to say no to the people.

The Burr conspiracy was a suspected treasonous group of planters, politicians, and army officers in the early 19th century. they were all lead by former vice president, Aaron burr. Burr's goal was to create an independent country in the center of North America and/or the present-day Southwestern United States and parts of present-day Mexico. Burr's version was that he intended to take possession of, and farm, 40,000 acres (160 km 2) in the Texas Territory leased to him by the Spanish Crown the reason Jackson was included with this was included with Andrew Jackson because it was during his presidency.

The spoil system was when Andrew Jackson would replace people in office with his supporters. He replaced 9 percent of federal employees during his first 18 months. This connects to Andrew Jackson because he created it. This is a failure because him replacing the people in office with his followers is sort of like cheating because then they will agree with him most of the time and that shows selfishness.

Conclusion: Hall of Shame

Andrew Jackson should be remembered in the Hall of Shame. Andrew Jackson belongs in the hall of shame because of the Trail of Tears and The Spoils System. The Trail of Tears was when Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act of 1830. This act said that the Indians in the south had to move to what is present day Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas. Many of the Indians died during the trip because of a shortage of food, shelter, and sanitation. This is a failure because even after the Indians went to the supreme court and won , he disregarded what the court said. Since they had to move it caused innocent people to die. The Spoils System was when Andrew Jackson would replace employees that disagreed him with other employees that did. In Jackson's first 18 months he replaced 9 percent of federal employees. He believed the no employee had the right to a lifetime right to that job. I think this is a failure because if he always replaced people who didn't agree with him with people who do then he always has the advantage. It is selfish to always give your self the advantage. Andrew Jackson influenced history by giving the common man voting rights. Andrew Jackson should be remembered in the hall of shame because of the Trail of Tears and the Spoils System.
