innocence symbolizes travis because he doesn't know all the wrong that Walter is doing with wanting to open up a liquor store instead of using it for a house. travis really has no idea what racism is. Travis doesn't know about his family arguing all the time because they usually stop as soon as he walks in the room. He only gets a understanding of whats going on towards the end of the play when mama won't let him go outside when Walter wants to sign the papers. Without Travis the play would've turned out a lot different.

A grape symbolizes Travis because he still has dreams that haven't been ruined yet by hard times in life and turned him into a raisin like the rest of the family's dreams. Travis still has a lot to live for and get put down. Travis is full life and wants everything that seems nice to help grow and become more successful and not become a dried up raisin with no more dreams and hope.

Travis knows how to find a way to get money and work. He is mature when Mama tells him that they have a house and he says " i've always wanted a house of my own" this shows that he thinks about his future in a mature way not just thinking about kid toys.
