He's a star in many people's eyes and I think that makes him feels untouchable and powerful, but also lonely and cut-off from a lot of normal things in everyday life. He's alienated from the world and he shows that in his portraits by making himself appear other-wordly and interesting.

I assume the narrator is wealthy because she refers to the other children as "charity children". As the poem goes on the narrator talks about how she wants to grow up and ‘have fun’ and not be the perfect child that her parents expect her to be. In a way, it shows how children want to go off and make their own paths rather than be whatever their parents want them to be.

He loved the city and after he did drugs in the city he didn't want to feel like that again and realized this.
