Technology causes a conflict for the parents as the parents children not longer obey to the parents rules. The mother Lydia explains how she does not feel apart of the household. Technology has taken every role a mother can have making Lydia feel useless and unwelcomed. Bradbury portrays or characterizes Lydia's as a woman who does not obsess over technology. Rather, Lydia thinks negatively of technology because technology takes away her ability to do work and provide.
