I was struck most by the steps regarding success criteria. We have 2 teachers who consistently use success criteria in their lessons with students and it is incredibly effective and puts a lot of the ownership for learning on the students.
I feel like this is something I would like to work with teachers on next year, after we have all taught the new reading units this year. That way, the teachers and I will have a better picture of the trajectory of the units and the expected outcomes.

I love the way he breaks it down into these 6 steps. It makes it seem very doable. This would be an extremely worthwhile type of PD for our teachers. Can we think about that for next year? Getting everyone on the same page?

I really like how this is broken down into steps. I want to celebrate that #1 and #2 are happening when I get a chance to plan with teachers. #3 is kind of happening but it is crucial that we explain to kids the why. Ex. How does working on retelling help us as readers? #4 reminds me of asking-what does the standard look and sound like? But this step seems more explicit. Lastly, steps #5 and #6, I am connecting to Calkin's learning progressions. I am wondering how to use this resource.
