In order to show a video, you could connect iphone, that has internet from your cell phone service, to computer. Make sure you have an apple connector cord.

In order to show video, you could use an iPad to record video.

By doing this, first make sure you have your video ready to play. Then, prepare your iPad. Turn the iPad on and click on the video button on the iPad. Once the video screen is shown on the iPad, begin recording by clicking on the red dot on the screen. After you are done recording, click the red dot on the iPad again. Save video on iPad like you would save a photo in your albums.

I would first use a Youtube downloader (VLC Media Player) and save the video on the computer or tablet.

That could be plugged into the screen in the classroom to play the video without an internet connection.

This program allows you to "grab" and save a Youtube video on your computer. You can then copy and paste the saved video into your presentation and not worry about whether you will have Internet connectivity when you are presenting.

I have a Verizon Jetpack 4GLTE that allows me to access the Internet from almost anywhere, unless there is no cellular service. Although this is a viable solution, I would feel much better having the video already downloaded on my computer.

My best bet is to use youtube downloader, which allows me to paste Youtube URL into my presentation and save it on the computer and enjoy.

I would use a video to mp3 Downloader that way

I had the video file saved and ready to use. This

would prevent any security blocks, buffering from

a slow internet connection which could ruin a

lesson and it would save time which is always

helpful during teaching!

You could make sure to have a hot spot, possibly a

portable one, that you can set up for your presentation. I've also had to use my phone and its 4G network in order to play a video. On Jing, it did have a "get video" button, but I did not explore it too much. Maybe Jing has an option to capture a video as a"screen shot" idea that could be accessible without interent because you can save to your computer?

Video Grabber (http://www.videograbber.net) is a web-based program that allows you to download videos from YouTube and other hosting sites such as Vimeo and DailyMotion. The way it works is that the user visits the website and enters the URL of the video he/she wishes to download. Video Grabber will detect the video file, which you can then download. Of c ourse, using this utility requires planning in advance, since you need to have Internet access at the time you download the video.

To capture a video without internet connectivity, I would utilize Jing. Jing allows you to highlight the Youtube box and record what is playing. The only downfall to using Jing compared to a Youtube downloader is the 5 minute recording time. Anything over 5 minutes would require you to capture multiple videos.

There are video downloader add ons that add on to the browser you use. I would download the add on to my browser in order to save the video to my desktop so it would play from my hard drive rather than the internet.

Youtube videos can be used in a presentation with or without

internet connectivity. In the case of no internet credentials you

could either download and save the video to your computer or

device or use one of many programs that are available for

viewing Youtube offline. One program that I came across was

called Airy. Airy is a downloadable program for Mac that can be

integrated directly in your web browser. You can download the

videos and access the saved video in the "download" folder on

your computer. Airy also provides the option of downloading

only the sound or mp3 from a video.

I decided to download and use ClipGrab to get a Harry Kindergarten sight word video from YouTube. Then just saved it in a folder on my computer and can access it whenever I need to. There are other download options out there, but this one seemed easy and straightforward so I thought I would try it.

Another trick (it would probably have poor quality), but you could record the video on your phone and then send it to your computer.

I would just plug my Phone into

the computer to see a video, or, if there

were an apple TV choice, I would mirror

the video.

There are lots of downloaders available online,

but I'm uncertain as to which would be the safest to use.

YouTube downloader does appear to be one of the most popular.

When SOL testing is in full swing and YouTube is shut down. I download YouTube videos using Dirpy (dirpy.com/#). It is simple to use - copy URL from YouTube and paste URL into dirpy and click Dirpy. A new screen is displayed and click mp4 displayed on the left hand side and your video is downloaded to your machine. You can then copy it to a USB if you chose. These days with LCPS internet access being so slow and unpredictable - I use dirpy to download all videos I plan on showing so avoid unanticipated problems.

Using your phone as a hotspot is not a bad idea. But phone service can be spotty in the LCPS schools. I searched for YouTube Downloaders and found so many. Quite a few had user comments that they didn't work, probably because they are from 3rd party vendors. If YouTube makes a change, the software has to be updated.

I remembered a web-based tool called KeepVid.com that I used at school during SOL testing week. It allows you to download a video from YouTube to your hard drive. I would then use it like any other video file, For the presentation, I would have the file on my flashdrive with my presentation (probably in Powerpoint). Plug the flashdrive into the USB port on the computer and good-to-go.
