Britain had control over Tobruk after defeating the Italians in 1940, but the Germans attempted to win it back by reinforcing Italian troops Afrika Korps of Erwin Rommel. The Germans forced the British eighth army to battle in Tobruk, forcing the Brits to retreat to Egypt. With the use of artillery, dive-bombers, and his panzer forces, Rommel pushed past the Allies. South African General Henrik Klopper ordered his officers to surrender early on the morning of the 21st. Adolf Hitler awarded Rommel the field marshal’s baton as reward for his victory. “I am going on to Suez,” was Rommel’s promise.

He dedicated his life to help with Hitler's election through the influence of newspapers, the cinema, theatres, art galleries and radio broadcasts. He shaped Germany by producing what he called the 'Ten Commandments for National Socialists'. These Ten Commandments were;
1. Your Fatherland is called Germany. Love it above all and more through action than through words.
2. Germany’s enemies are your enemies. Hate them with your whole heart.
3. Every national comrade, even the poorest, is a piece of Germany. Love him as yourself.
4. Demand only duties for yourself. Then Germany will get justice.
5. Be proud of Germany. You ought to be proud of a Fatherland for which millions have sacrificed their lives.
6. He who abuses Germany, abuses you and your dead. Strike your fist against him.
7. Hit a rogue more than once. When one takes away your good rights, remember that you can only fight him physically.
8. Don’t be an anti-Semitic knave.
9. Make your actions that you need no blush when the New Germany is mentioned.
10. Believe in the future. Only then can you be the victor.
"A lie told once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth"

This battle lasted 241 days as 14,000 Australian soldiers were besieged in Tobruk near the border of Egypt. The Nazi's named these defenders 'rats' in a derogatory manner, however, the Australians found it more of an ironic compliment. It was absolutely vital for the Allies to defend Egypt and Suez Canal as it was a route/water passage through Britain and the Middle Eas

Goebels was third Reich under Hitler, and his job was to spread the Nazi message and build more support for the Nazi's in Berlin. By 1944 Goebels had persuaded Germany to adopt his war plan for a "total war" during where we know it as the second world war. A diary entry found by historians during the war, proved his loyalty towards Hitler by blaming Germans defeat on the Germany people, not Hitler. Goebbels became crazy toward the end, poising his six children and shooting his wife before he shot himself.

The policy of appeasement was made to avoid conflict and stop war between Germany and the rest of the world, it was a political move to stop a new war. The primary reason was because of the weakened state of the countries in WW2 for example France and Britain. Hitler noticed this and decided to test the limits of the policy of appeasement. Eventually after relentless harassment of giving up land to Germany. In March 1939 it was made clear that the policy of appeasement was a failure when Hitler had seized control of Czechoslovakia and when war became all to clear. A misguided belief in peace was replaced by the reluctant acceptance of the inevitable war.

By Marley Mariner-Vimosoi

Hitler was appointed chancellor in January 1933, he made many promises that appealed to Germans, hence securing many votes. A few of his promises includes: destruction of the communist supremacy in Germany, Regain Germans lost prestige after WWI, reclaim all of Germanys lost territory after the " Treaty of Versailles " was signed (Sudentland, Saarland etc) and that youth and adults will all be provided with jobs food and shelter. Hitler had the chance to make all of these promises due to him being elected. The reason Hitler was voted in was due to his charisma, he was known to be very charismatic which helped him appeal to many audiences and therefore assisted him during his speeches. Citizens also voted for him out of sheer terror, the idea of not knowing what he was going to do next and the upcoming question if his decisions were for the greater good.

Adolf Hitler, "Appeal to the German People" (February 1, 1933) ~ Let us begin, loyal to the command of the Field-Marshal.

'The Battle of Britain' took place from the 10th of July 1940 - 31st October 1940. It occurred over British Airspace between Britain and Nazi Germany. It also had members of The British Empire participate. It was the first battle to ever be fought using only the Airforce. The two forces that participated were the skilled Royal Air Force and the Not as Experienced Luftwaffe, who outnumbered the RAF. It caused 90,000 civilian casualties, 40,000 of which were fatal. There were many reasons as to why it was so significant. One of the most significant results of the battle was the first defeat of one of Hitler's Forces. Since the Germans were unbale to gain air superiority in the region, Hitler cancelled the invasion of Britain. It is widely considered a significant turning point in the war. This is for a variety of reasons. One of the first is due to the British dealing a significant blow to the German Air Force, from which they never fully recovered. Another reason for its significance was Britain being able to stay in the war. The reason this is significant is because it would eventually allow for the defeat of Nazi Germany about 4 years later. On the 20th of August 1940, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill gave a historic speech with a quote that would raise British morale in the troubling time; 'Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few'.

The policy of appeasement was a diplomatic policy drafted as a governed Anglo-French foreign policy during the 1930’s, many of it “roots” lay primarily in the weakness of post-World War 1 because neither of the countries were militarily ready for another war, As well as the great depression still lingering on it was hard for the countries people to go and fight with many of the people in Brittan saying “peace at any price. Many politicians believed that Germany had a genuine injustice resulting from the treaty of Versailles. In the years leading up to World War II, Britain and France underestimated just how determined Adolf Hitler was in his lust for conquest. The failure of Neville Chamberlain's policy of appeasement meant war was inevitable.
KAELAN TUSKIN

The Battle of Britain took place from July to September of 1940 just a month after the French signed an armistice and quit World War II. At this point the British stood alone against Germany, who had conquered most of Western Europe in less than two months. The name was derived from a speech given by Winston Churchill delivered on June 18th, he stated that “The Battle of France is over. I expect the Battle of Britain is about to begin.” The Battle is considered the first all-air battle to take place and the success of the Battle can be attributed to the RAF Fighter Command’s ability to thwart Germany’s attempts to gain air superiority. Germany could be considered unprepared for these attacks as they had poor intelligence and little idea of British vulnerabilities, while Britain’s situation was much less dire as they possessed an effective air defence system.
