Kemp's Office confirmed that not only will the governor be in Evans, he will also be at Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency at 1056 Global Drive in Lincolnton at 4:30 p.m. He will be meeting with local leadership and emergency management officials. He will also be providing brief remarks on the state's response to Helene. 

Trump views winning in 2024 as a chance to redeem himself after losing in 2020, which he continues to falsely claim was due to widespread fraud.

Winning would serve as personal vindication, reinforcing his narrative that the 2020 loss was illegitimate​

His legal challenges (including fraud and election interference charges) drive his bid, as winning would grant him federal immunity while in office.
